ABOUT THE PROJECT (2024)

Project focused on designing an saddle for Tsubasa Bicycles, a European manufacturer known for their handcrafted composite frames and wabi-sabi aesthetics. The goal was to create a performance saddle that would complement their existing product line while addressing the specific needs of road and track cyclists.

CLIENT NEEDS

Tsubasa Bicycles needed a saddle design that would align with their brand philosophy of handcrafted quality and meticulous manufacturing process. The client wanted a saddle that would resonate with their target audience while maintaining the distinctive Tsubasa design language and quality standards.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

The saddle was designed with a short-nose profile to allow cyclists to lean aggressively while maintaining comfort. A central cutout was incorporated to remove pressure from the perineal area, addressing a common issue for performance cyclists. The development process involved close collaboration with the Tsubasa team, ensuring the final product would integrate seamlessly with their handcrafted frames and brand design approach.

Deliverables: Research, design, CNC ready CAD files of saddle molds, visualisation material.
